The rainstick is an instrument created by the Native Peoples of the Rainforest.
Legend says that it was once used by the Native Peoples to bring forth rain.
Today, the rainstick is often used as a sound effect or as a percussion
instrument. Join Miss Mandi in learning how to create your very own rainstick

Shreyas and Mina Ajmera Gallery of Africa, the Americas
and Asia-Pacific, ROM (Opening April 5)
This gallery located on Level 3, Michael Lee-Chin Crystal, reflects the ROM’s
vast and diverse collections that represent the artistic and cultural traditions
of indigenous peoples from Africa, the American continents, the Asia-Pacific
region and Oceania. This is the first permanent home for these collections in
over 30 years, with many of the 1,400 artifacts on display for the first time.
Ranging from large and dramatic ceremonial masks and colourful robes to
archaeological objects such as ceramics and basketry, the collections were

Stingray Bay - A Touching Experience, Toronto Zoo
(May 16 to October)
The Toronto Zoo offers up interaction and fun with the new and exclusive live
exhibit. Stingray Bay-A Touching Experience. This exhibit will engage visitors
and provide them with the opportunity to humanely and safely interact with these
incredible creatures. Situated in the Group Events Tent, within Zellers
Discovery Zone, Stingray Bay will feature up to 25 Cownose and Southern
Stingrays. Guests can also participate in special feedings and learn all about
these graceful animals with keeper talks. The stringrays will be supported in 20
inch deep, 1,450 square foot, and 60,500 litre salt water habitat with waterfall
and state-of-the-art life support system. Standard hand wash stations will be
available for visitors to use. Pool was specifically designed for easy and
gentle navigation of the Stingrays plus a mid-section stingray resting area
within the pool.
